Project AHTI
About the Project
AHTI is a rocketry team driven to design, build, and hot-fire Finland's highest performance liquid rocket engine.
In Finnish mythology, Ahti is the ruler of the sea and waters. According to the legend of the shepherd's lost knife, Ahti rises from the waters with gold and silver knives. The shepherd refuses both, demanding only his iron tool. Impressed by boys commitment to truth, Ahti rewards him with all three.
Project AHTI embodies this message: rigorous engineering, with no shortcuts, and a deep respect for the elements. Liquid rocketry presents major challenges and the only way to persevere is to stay truthful to ourselves. Our project combines fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, high-pressure system design, and automated control requiring the utmost adherence to safety and reliability, in all situations.
Beyond the engine, our mission is to equip students with real-world skills needed in the space industry, and also empower students to lead, and expand Finland's fast growing space sector.
